Healthy Living, Engineering Expertise, and Uncompromising Sustainability.
We spend, on average, up to 90 percent of our time indoors, which highlights the importance of having a healthy building and good indoor air quality for our well-being.
Kontio’s timber buildings stand out by offering exceptionally high indoor air quality. The insulating properties of natural wood are outstanding, creating an effective balance in temperature and humidity throughout the seasons. Research shows that the presence of wooden surfaces reduces stress and promotes relaxation.

SmartLog™ is the most advanced timber on the market, not only retaining its shape but also remaining stable even under varying environmental conditions. The load resistance and stiffness of the Kontio SmartLog structure underwent extensive testing by VTT (Technical Research Centre of Finland), confirming exceptionally high load resistance.

There is now no reason to refrain from building with timber. Technical challenges can be met and overcome. With over fifty dedicated engineers in design, research, and testing, we have the capacity to address and solve technical issues in a reliable way.
Our timber construction is not only technically advanced but also exceptionally fire-resistant, easily meeting the stringent requirements of Sweden’s building codes.

The massive logs even out temperature variations, so that log houses stay cool in summer and agreeably warm in winter. The solid walls also collect and store energy from sunlight.
We choose the best structural solutions to meet the demands of low-energy construction including log type, corner design, sealing technology, and heat recovery systems.
Fire: Resistance values up to REI 90.
Earthquake: Superior seismic endurance due to the elastic nature of wood. Ideally suited for seismically active areas
At Sara Abode, we believe architecture is key to a sustainable future. By designing versatile, adaptable buildings, we ensure they can evolve with society’s changing needs, lasting for generations.

Sourced from Northern Finland’s PEFC-certified forests. Acts as a long-term carbon sink.
Made from solid, breathable massive logs built to endure for generations with minimal maintenance.
Minimal production waste is reused internally. Our side streams generate more energy than the factory consumes!
Ready-to-install log elements save time and materials without additional layers needed.
Proven by enduring structures like the Nothnagle Cabin (built 1600s). Easily adaptable and repairable.
Logs can be disassembled, relocated, and reused in new projects or recycled into beams.
At the end of their lifecycle, logs can be used in renewable energy or biocarbon production.
Future-ready wooden structures, tested for durability and long-term performance
